Minneapolis professional photographer Alison Malone who creates storytelling fine art photography

Hey, I’m Ali!

My career hasn’t just been over 20 years of taking photos, but 20 years of learning how to connect with people and make them feel safe. Whether you’re a CEO of a multinational corporation or a mother that gave birth to twins, everybody has a sensitive spot of how they feel and how they want to be seen. That’s what people come to me for. I find that sweet spot between who you are and how you want to be remembered.

I am...

  • A dynamic extrovert that loves quiet moments of meditation
  • One of those people that earns trust because I don’t have anything to hide and people feel naturally safe with me

I love...

  • My rambunctious, neurospicy family
  • My darling poodles, Nico and Pearl
  • My giant gardens and growing beautiful things
  • Learning and teaching skills that engage empathy for all living beings and the planet

Before I was a Minneapolis Mom…

I worked in the dynamic NYC art world, from the likes of Jeff Koons to the elite advertising world with photographers like Vincent Dixon and major advertising agencies like Fallon and BBDO. In between the time in New York where I was showing my own work, I also was flying over to Europe regularly and managing operations for our advertising studio’s roster of photographers portfolio output and archiving for a myriad of New York artists.

When you support me, you're supporting my people

At Malone Portraits, we’re all about lifting up fellow female and queer business owners because we’re passionate about fueling our local economy to see our community thrive.

In order to create a seamless, quality experience for my clients, I also have assembled a team of vendors that I trust to provide services as part of my photo process. This includes but is not limited to hair and makeup artists, stylists, aestheticians, second shooters for events, videographers, print shops, and venue owners. While these added perks are totally optional, we believe that when you feel and look your absolute best, it shines through in every photo we capture!

Nice words about me…

“Ali easily and expertly brought my vision to life through her photos. Her ability to listen to my imaginative nonsense and bring those ramblings to life was perfect.”

Amy K

Business Branding Client

“Shooting with her is truly magical – she makes everyone feel so confident and relaxed.  She brings out the best smiles in my daughter with her positive presence AND she even bought my daughter’s favorite cheese and played Taylor Swift music so she had snacks and fun during the shoot.”

Marie V

Portrait Client

“Ali is an incredible photographer with a deep understanding on how to actually capture the nuance of the person she’s photographing to make beautiful images. Not many can do this. She works harder than anyone I know in this line of work.

Kermit G

Headshot Client

“Alison was one of the kindest hosts I’ve ever met! She provides a service with such a positive attitude and allows your creativity to flow. She’s wonderful to work with and I couldn’t recommend her enough.”

Melissa I

Studio Renter

“Ali is such an amazing human to work with. I honestly don’t know what I did to deserve having her in my life, but I am forever grateful for her. The way she understands and connects with people, specifically neurodivergent and queer people, is so impressive.”
