But don’t worry, if you have a specific meaningful outdoor location that you’d like to use for your outdoor session, we can talk about making that happen.
Lifestyle Family Photography
Family sessions that take place in your home, or at other meaningful local locations
Unlike studio family photography sessions, lifestyle family sessions usually take place in your home, the land surrounding your property, or at locations in the Minneapolis area that are important to you and your family.
These sessions aim to highlight you in your natural habitat, so to speak! Lifestyle family sessions are particularly helpful if you have family members who struggle with new environments. I can come to you, to keep stress low!

What to Expect
When you work with Malone Portraits for your family photography session, you don’t have to worry about stiff, awkward posing, or an uncomfortable lack of direction. I’ve spent decades now perfecting the space in between, where you feel directed, but naturally, so that your true self shines through in the final images.
You’ll never have to ask me what to do with your hands, but you also won’t feel like I’m asking you to hold robotic, unrealistic positions. And one of the side effects of this natural approach to posing, is you get the opportunity to be… well, yourself.
After Your Family Photography Session
Your time in the studio or my time in your home doesn’t mark the end of your Malone Portraits experience. Following your session, we’ll talk about all things “printing” – and may even sit down together to look at your images and select items for printing.
I work with archival quality printing providers, and no matter what your space needs, I have a solution for printing your images to enjoy in your home!

How do we choose what to wear?
What you wear to any photo session has a huge impact on the look of your final images – so it’s important to put some thought into it! For family photo sessions, the best approach is to choose coordinating (but not perfectly MATCHING) clothing for each person who’s going to be photographed. But if you have any doubt, just reach out and we can talk about it! Creating the wardrobe for your session is important, and you don’t have to be alone in making those choices.
What size images will I receive?
Great question. Your images will be available in both print and web resolutions for download after your session. However, I also offer printing services, so that you don’t have to take on any guesswork when it comes to ordering images to hang in your home!
How much do sessions cost?
All sessions with Malone Portraits are uniquely tailored to your specific needs, and everyone needs something a little different. The best way to get a quote for your session, is to reach out, and we can have a conversation about it! There’s a big difference between an extended family session that includes portraits of each of your twenty family members, and an in studio session intended to capture a handful of portraits of your child.
